Courtland Sutton highlights importance of Broncos’ off-field chemistry

The Denver Broncos are putting together their best start to a season since 2016, as their 6-2 record has them in sole possession of first place in the AFC West and in a tie for second place in the AFC playoff race. The offense is finding its groove, while the defense is continuing to assert itself as one of the league’s best units on a weekly basis.

It’s clear that this Denver team has better chemistry than other groups around the league. The players know how to play off each other, they know what the guy next to them is going to do, and it’s obvious that they trust each other on every single play. What’s the reason for that.

The relationships that the players have built with each other off the field have helped the team succeed in between the lines. Recently, they had a chance to connect in a fun environment off the field at the team Halloween party. Courtland Sutton spoke on the importance of having events like that in the midst of a grueling NFL season.

“Anytime you get a chance to fellowship with your teammates away from the building, it allows you to be able to get to know each other in a more intimate, personal setting… When we come here, it’s like you’re coming into work, you check in, you go to work, meetings, practice. You’re here to be able to do your job at the highest level and figure out ways to get better doing your job at the high level,” Sutton said after Broncos practice Wednesday.

That statement should be a good sign for Broncos Country that shows that this squad is focused whenever they’re in the practice facility. They’re not worried about much outside of football when they make their way down to Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit. There are other teams in the league, like the Baltimore Ravens, who had to limit distractions in the facility because it was hampering their ability to properly practice and prepare for an upcoming game.

“You do have opportunities to be able to laugh and enjoy each other’s company, but to be able to be away from the from the facility, away from football, watch guys let their hair down just a little bit and just enjoy each other’s company, get to be around each other’s families, I think all those opportunities are amazing. It was a good time to be able to hang out with the boys away from work,” Sutton said.

Especially after all the trials and tribulations these guys have been through on the field this season en route to a 6-2 record, it’s good to see them all get together and put some costumes on and have fun like the rest of the world for this spooky week.
