Arsenal booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win against Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night.
After a goalless first half, Ethan Nwaneri put the Premier League leaders ahead, before substitute Bukayo Saka doubled the Gunners’ advantage.
Mikel Arteta’s side held on to progress past the Seagulls and book their place in the last eight of the competition.
Away from the action, it has emerged that the Gunners are interested in a La Liga superstar.
According to TBR Football, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are admirers of Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
The report claims that the two North London sides are both monitoring the Brazilian, who has fallen somewhat out of favour in the Spanish capital since the arrival of Xabi Alonso as head coach.

The 24-year-old joined Real from Brazilian side Santos in 2019 and has since established himself as one of the best attacking players in Europe, scoring 68 goals and providing 53 assists in 280 games for the club across all competitions.
He has fallen down the pecking order since Alonso’s arrival, though, tarting just two of Real Madrid’s ten La Liga games so far this term.
Arsenal were interested in the winger over the summer and continue to keep tabs on the player, according to the report, while Spurs also admire the Brazilian.
It is claimed that the player himself could look to pursue a move away from the Spanish capital in January if his playing time continues to suffer, in an effort to feature regularly ahead of next summer’s World Cup in the United States.
Rodrygo’s current contract with Real Madrid is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season.
