**Newcastle 2 Spurs 0 – Wednesday 29 October 2025 8pm**
Instant fan/writer reaction from some of our regular contributors on The Mag.
**Nat Seaton:**
_‘What a great game of football and we came out on the right side of it with a thoroughly deserved win._
_Lots of changes but our standard didn’t drop, special mention for our midfield maestro who was on top form after his illness._
_Great to see big Nick get another goal, and with his head!_
_Happy times ahead, off to London on Sunday, can’t wait!’_
**Simon Ritter:**
_‘We used our heads, first with Schar and then with Woltemade._
_Joelinton lost his and could have picked up two yellows after fouling Kudus and then reacting when provoked. No VAR, thank goodness, We were well below our best against a team who until tonight had been unbeaten on the road this season._
_Krafth, Willock and Elanga had a proper run-out, while Ramsdale made two top saves when the game was in the balance._
_One worry was the inability to test stand-in keeper Kinsky. Only three efforts on target from 10 attempts._
_We played the better football and took our chances, although Spurs had twice as many on target._
_Five wins from our past six matches and another clean sheet. What’s not to like!’_
**Billy Miller:**
_‘Marching on to the quarter finals once again._
_Something we have done every single Carabao Cup campaign since Eddie Howe arrived._
_There was a fantastic stat mentioned in commentary that we haven’t fallen behind in a single Carabao Cup game since the 2023 final._
_We never looked like losing this one._
_Both teams made changes but our strength in depth showed._
_Loved seeing Woltemade win a header against a goalkeeper._
_He is well on the way to a 20+ goal season in all comps.’_
**GToon:**
_‘We are just starting to click into gear._
_That was a very good team we just beat._
_Unbeaten away but they never looked like getting anywhere against a well organised and determined Toon 11._
_What a player Tonali is._
_Some great passing and movement from our players._
_Funny to see their players give up every 50/50 with BDB. Happy days.’_
**Matt Busby said…:**
_‘An accomplished victory in defence of OUR trophy._
_Sandro Tonali, take a bow. MOTM by a country mile._
_Elsewhere, there were some very good performances, but let me single out Jacob Ramsey who mopped up everything in the centre of the park._
_Aaron Ramsdale was excellent as well._
_Tell me ma. Again!’_
**Greg McPeake:**
_‘Once again Eddie Howe shows his quality with eight changes and a Newcastle team that play his way._
_Comfortable win playing the Eddie way._
_Tonali outstanding running the show from the first minute and big Nick bossing it._
_Bring on West Ham and their tinpot stadium.’_
**The Armchair Fan:**
_‘GET IN!_
_Brilliant performance and a fully deserved win._
_Three wins in a row, happy days!’_
**David Punton:**
**Tony Mallabar:**_‘_
_‘Anyone who I met after the Fulham game was told spurs were definitely nailed on tonight.._
_This is a different toon now and a well deserved win._
_Another mention goes to Tonali. I’ve seen better footballers in black than white but not since Johnathan Woodgate have I seen a player with so much time and space with a football.’_
**Jamie Smith:**
_‘That’s spot on to be honest._
_A good run out for some lesser used players, a win that never looked in doubt and a consistent confidence builder._
_Throw in Liverpool’s exit and it’s been a canny evening, as we await the draw for the quarter-final…’_
