The Frenchman returned to City’s starting team after missing a large chunk of the season through injury in a match where boss Pep Guardiola made 10 changes to his lineup.
The hosts struck first but we levelled through Jeremy Doku’s deflected effort before the interval.
With just under 15 minutes remaining, Cherki set up Omar Marmoush to blast us ahead, before Cherki himself got his name on the scoresheet, slotting into the bottom corner in stoppage time to secure our place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Speaking to City Studios after the game, Cherki expressed his delight at being back out on the pitch.
“I’m feeling very good because I hadn’t played for a very long time,” he declared.
“I’m very happy to be back to help my friends. I’m very happy to be back because I want to play.
“I just want to play. In my life I want to take pleasure and give pleasure.
“When I’m out I’m not happy and when I’m on the pitch I’m happy.
“For that I’m happy.”
Cherki also revealed Pep’s half-time message to the players and spoke about his road to recovery following his injury.
