Titans shuffle defense amidst struggles, new faces join roster

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans are in a state of flux, grappling with a revolving door of players due to injuries and recent trades as they continue to search for a winning formula. The latest defensive shake-up includes the departure of cornerback Roger McCreary and the addition of two new players, hoping to bolster the struggling unit.

McCreary was traded, marking another change in the Titans’ defensive lineup. In response, the team has brought in two fresh faces from NFL practice squads.

Micah Robinson, a rookie cornerback, has been signed from the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. Robinson, who has not yet seen action in a regular-season game, is expected to immediately compete for playing time. He views the move as a significant opportunity.

“That’s just how I see it: opportunity, especially with it being my rookie year,” Robinson said. “Opportunity to make plays, get snaps on special teams, defense, or whatever it is.”

Joining Robinson is Truman Jones, an outside linebacker, acquired from the New England Patriots’ practice squad. Jones has played 11 special teams snaps this season and emphasizes speed, effort, and intensity. He also highlighted his versatile background.

“Just speed and effort and intensity, like really playing fast, getting to the ball,” Jones stated. “I have that kind of linebacker mentality or intelligence from a defensive end, outside linebacker. I feel like it’s something that I bring, and now being able to rush the passer, learn from guys in this locker room who have been doing it for a long time, I feel like that’s what I’m hoping to bring to the field.”

The new additions arrive as the Titans’ defense faces significant challenges.

Veteran Arden Key remains sidelined with a quad injury, potentially opening up immediate opportunities for both Robinson and Jones to contribute.

The team is preparing to face quarterback Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday, a critical test for the revamped defensive squad.
