Sam Hauser didn't even start on Wednesday night for the Boston Celtics against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
By the end of the first quarter, though, he had made NBA history.
Hauser drilled five 3-pointers by the time the first quarter was over.
According to the ESPN broadcast, he's the sixth player in the last 30 years to hit five 3-pointers in a first quarter after coming off the bench.
Basically, it happens once every five seasons. And it was Hauser's turn to be blisteringly hot.
He certainly didn't need any time to warm up.

Hauser did miss one 3-pointer, so he wasn't quite spotless. But in only five minutes, he got six of the shots up from beyond the arc and made five.
It was the theme of the first quarter.
The Cavs and Celtics, as teams, combined for 18 3-pointers between them. According to ESPN, that was the third-most in a first quarter in NBA history.
It felt like each time the teams went up the floor, a 3 was going up, and usually it went in.
That included a ridiculous, contested fadeaway to end the quarter from Donovan Mitchell, which of course found its way in. Mitchell shot 4-for-4 from 3 in the quarter.
But it was Hauser, with five 3s in five minutes, who made the largest mark.
