Rashid Shaheed landing spots: Broncos, Bills highlight best potential destination for Saints WR at trade deadline

Expectations were low for the New Orleans Saints entering the season, so they have had plenty of time to evaluate what to do at the trade deadline.

One player who could be on the move is WR Rashid Shaheed, who has bounced back from an injury-shortened 2024 season to become one of the Saints' top offensive weapons even in a forgettable year for the organization.

With a handful of contenders searching for wide receivers ahead of the deadline, Shaheed could bring back a valuable asset for New Orleans.

Here's a look at which teams could be the best potential landing spots for Shaheed at the deadline.

Rashid Shaheed landing spots

Denver Broncos

Shaheed joined the Saints after Sean Payton left the organization, so he doesn't have direct ties to the Denver Broncos coach, but Payton and Saints GM Mickey Loomis have a long history of working together and came together for a preseason trade when Devaughn Vele was dealt to New Orleans. Could one more deal be on the table?

The Broncos have gotten improvement out of Troy Franklin and have seen flashes from Marvin Mims, but a more consistent threat in Shaheed could be what Denver's offense needs to become as balanced as possible down the stretch. Once purely a deep-threat who has become a bit more well-rounded, Shaheed would give Bo Nix a proven weapon and divert some attention away from his other favorite targets.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills don't have a true No. 1 wide receiver, but that is by design. Joe Brady seems to be content with a slew of capable pass-catchers and an effective running game, rather than one, do-it-all receiver. Even so, it would be hard to make the case Josh Allen's receiving corps is good enough right now.

Shaheed could add one more deep threat to Buffalo's offense, though the impending season debut of Gabe Davis could negate the need for someone like Shaheed in a perfect world.

Pittsburgh Steelers

DK Metcalf has done his job as the Pittsburgh Steelers' No. 1 receiver, but the Steelers are still searching for reliable wide receivers outside of the former Seahawks star.

Back-to-back losses put more pressure on Pittsburgh to get aggressive before the trade deadline if ending the franchise's playoff win drought is the goal, and Shaheed is someone who can be a reliable downfield threat for Aaron Rodgers when Metcalf is well-covered.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders hoped Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown and Luke McCaffrey would be a more-than-formidable wide receiver corps for Jayden Daniels, but injuries to McLaurin and Brown plus inconsistent play from Samuel have created a potential need for help.

With McLaurin aggravating a quad injury, the Commanders have to decide if they are still hoping to contend this season. If they believe that path is there, a deep threat in Shaheed could be fun to pair with the arm of Daniels down the stretch.
