Ravens making playoff run vs. Miami? Lamar Jackson taking short-term view

Sitting at 2-5, everyone on the planet knows the game plan moving forward for the Baltimore Ravens if they are to even have a chance at sneaking into the playoffs - go on a winning streak.

Sounds simple enough, but when you factor in that there isn't any room for error with only 10 games left in the season, and five of them being division games, it isn't as straightforward as that.

After beating the Chicago Bears 30-16 last week, that was a step in the right direction, and here comes the lowly Miami Dolphins, who many expect the Ravens to dispose of relatively easily.

That would make it two wins on the bounce, and suddenly, the Ravens could be poised to go on a playoff-defining run.

Does Lamar Jackson think this team has that sort of run in them?

"Yeah, but I'm not really worried about the run right now," Jackson said. "I got to focus on Miami, you can't never overlook your opponent. So, we going to focus on those guys, try to come out victorious, then move on to next week."

Ravens facing season-defining Dolphins game

That might be a little heavy-handed given we are at Week 9, but the Ravens, at 2-5, can't afford, in reality, to lose any game for the rest of the season.

One would imagine that 10 wins might be enough to sneak into a wildcard spot in the playoffs, but to do that, eight wins from the final 10 games of the season are needed.

That's a tough ask, but one that, if we are being honest with ourselves, the Ravens can accomplish, but that means winning the games you should, like against Miami. Plus, with five division games still on the schedule, Baltimore has to run the table in the AFC North, which again, is tough.

It might only be the end of October, but playoff football has arrived early for Baltimore.

Time to buckle up.
