Coming off last week’s bye, the Seattle Seahawks had 12 players land on their initial practice report Wednesday.
As head coach Mike Macdonald announced earlier in the afternoon, veteran safety Julian Love (hamstring) did not practice after experiencing a “setback” in his recovery last week.
Seahawks safety Julian Love suffers injury ‘setback’
Macdonald said Love’s status for Sunday night’s Week 9 matchup against the Washington Commanders is “in jeopardy” and that the team is considering placing him on injured reserve, which would require him to miss at least four more games. Love has already missed four of the Seahawks’ first seven games.
Veteran run-blocking tight end Eric Saubert (calf) and wide receiver Dareke Young (quad) also sat out practice. Macdonald said Young is under consideration for an IR stint, too.
On a more positive note, two-time All-Pro cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) was a full participant in practice. It’s the first time he’s opened the week as a full participant since Week 1, which seemingly puts him on track to return Sunday after missing five of the first seven games this season.
Also, edge rusher Derick Hall (oblique) returned to practice as a limited participant after missing the past two games. It’s the first time Hall has practiced since his injury.
Defensive tackle Jarran Reed (wrist), defensive end Leonard Williams (non-injury-related/rest) and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (non-injury-related/rest) were also limited participants.
Quarterback Sam Darnold (chest) and wide receiver Cooper Kupp (heel) were new additions to the practice report, but both were full participants.
Rookie fullback Robbie Ouzts (ankle) and offensive guard Christian Haynes (pectoral) also were full participants after being designated to return to practice off injured reserve this week.
