Dallas Cowboys fans may be a little shell shocked when it comes to their favorite players negotiating contracts, and not many could blame them. For months reports leaked that Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons’ agent were not on speaking terms, which inevitably led to the star pass rusher being traded to the Green Bay Packers.
However, that same agent also has another client who happens to be a star in Dallas.

When the Cowboys acquired George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in May 2025, one lesser-noticed detail raised eyebrows: both Pickens and Micah Parsons are represented by the same NFL agent, David Mulugheta of Athletes First.
Why this matters
Parsons’ contract saga with the Cowboys was widely publicized and fraught with tension. Mulugheta was central in those negotiations. ESPN.com+1
With Pickens now in Dallas and entering the final year of his rookie deal, the fact that his agent is the same as Parsons’ raises questions about how the Cowboys will handle negotiations, expectations, and potentially the dynamics in the locker room. nflanalysis.net+1
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has publicly down-played the significance of the shared representation. He told reporters that “too much was made” of the agent matter and insisted the agent would not influence what they did relative to “dollars and sense.” CBS Sports+1
The Pickens Situation
Pickens is performing at a high level in Dallas. For example: through seven games he caught 36 passes for 607 yards and six touchdowns. With that output, he is entering a contract year and will likely seek a significant raise. His agent (Mulugheta) is expected to push for that.
The Parsons Precedent
Parsons and Mulugheta’s relationship had been contentious with the Cowboys. Contract negotiations stalled, and the agent didn’t hesitate to advocate aggressively for his client. Ultimately Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers. AS USA+1
The worry among analysts is that Pickens could follow a similar pattern if the terms aren’t to his satisfaction.
What’s Next for Dallas

The Cowboys will likely be cautious with Pickens’ extension, mindful of the Parsons situation and the fact that they’re dealing with the same representation.
Even though Jones says the agent isn’t a factor, some believe the past makes the front office more wary of how talks unfold. nflanalysis.net
For Pickens: if he continues producing, his bargaining power grows. His agent will have leverage.
For the team: balancing fair compensation with salary-cap constraints, existing commitments (e.g., to other receivers), and avoiding repetition of Parsons-contract drama will be top priorities.
Bottom line
The shared agent between Pickens and Parsons is more than a footnote: it’s a significant part of the narrative surrounding contract negotiations, team dynamics, and how the Cowboys approach their roster-management strategy. How both sides proceed could set the tone for Dallas’ future dealings with top talent.
