For most basketball fans, the NBA 2K is the ultimate game. However, the streetball style of hoops is and has always been more exciting than the professional side of the game. And when these games were first coming up, the likes of NBA Jam and NBA Street were popular for just this reason.
Neither game lasted, which many older fans often complain about. But the NBA and NBPA, alongside Play By Play studio, are set to fix that. A new game, called ‘NBA The Run’, is set for release in 2026. The trailer for this game recently went viral on social media.

This new project is a 3v3 online multiplayer-focused fast-paced basketball game. The game will release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game focuses on some of the more hyped aspects of the game, like above-the-rim play, poster moments, and ankle-breaking tricks.

“Gameplay is fast, fluid, and responsive. Powered by true rollback netcode, your moves on the sticks will sync instantaneously – cross up an aggressive defender, switch to a layup mid-dunk to avoid a block, or throw up a lob out of a spin move for a game-winning alley-oop,” as per Final Weapon.

The trailer looks quite good, and fans have every right to be excited. Basketball games have truly been missing that street energy, and this should bring it back in style.
