Your Depot After Dark for Oct. 29.

QUEEN SALUTE TO SERVICE

The NFL is a massive business. While it makes a lot of money, it also tries to support several good causes. That includes supporting the military. The Salute to Service Award is presented annually to a player, coach, alumnus, or staff member of a team that best connects with people in the service.

This year, Patrick Queen is the Steelers’ nominee for the Salute to Service Award. He’s involved in multiple programs that work to help military members. That includes supporting veterans’ programs through the My Cause My Cleats program. Fans can vote for Queen to help him become one of the three finalists for the award. Hopefully, he can get recognition for all the good work he’s doing.

FLACCO’S STATUS UP IN THE AIR

A few weeks ago, the Cincinnati Bengals traded for veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. With Joe Burrow hurt, they needed a solution under center. Flacco came in and gave them a boost, helping them beat the Steelers. Last week, he suffered a shoulder injury. Initially, it looked like he wouldn’t miss any time, but that might not be the case anymore.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport stated on Twitter that Flacco’s status for this week’s game is up in the air. The injury is an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder. The Bengals are slated to play the Chicago Bears, who just lost to the Baltimore Ravens without Lamar Jackson. We’ll see if they lose to another AFC North team with a backup quarterback.

HEYWARD’S KINDNESS WEEK

For years, Cam Heyward has been a staple of the Steelers. He’s been with them for 15 seasons. Not only is Heyward a good player, but he’s also a good role model off the field. That was seen when he was named Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2023.

Winning that award hasn’t slowed down Heyward’s work, though. This week, he’s celebrating Cam’s Kindness Week, as shared by Steelers Community Relations on Twitter. Each day, he’s doing a different form of community work, helping those less fortunate. Heyward continues to be a model Steeler.
