If you ask those within Broncos Country right now, the Denver Broncos are one of the best teams in the NFL. Of course, those fans are obviously biased, and the national media doesn't see it that way... at least not yet.
The Broncos have been bouncing around the field in the weekly power rankings, but it seemed like beating the hot Dallas Cowboys by three scores would lead to a big jump. While Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News did give the Broncos a bit of a push, it was only two spots up from last week.
On the bright side, the Broncos are a top-10 team in those rankings now, sitting right at No. 10.
The Broncos played their most complete game this past Sunday and looked like one of the top teams in the league. Still, Iyer has nine teams ranked ahead of them.
"The Broncos kept on scoring against the Cowboys after that massive Bo Nix-fueled comeback against the Giants and this time didn't see their defense stumble to keep a lead. Now the concern will be the health of DPOY cornerback Pat Surtain II", wrote Iyer.
The Broncos have upcoming games at the Houston Texans and then at home against the Las Vegas Raiders. Getting wins in those games, which would improve their record to 8-2 on the season, likely won't do much for their power ranking. But in Week 11, the Kansas City Chiefs are coming to town. That is the game where the Broncos will have to take their respect and go from a fun team with a future, which the national media sees, to the true Super Bowl contender that Broncos Country sees.
If the Broncos win that game and get to 9-2 on the year, no one will be able to look past them.
