With the NFL trade deadline approaching, you had to figure the Jets would be looking to offload some assets in the coming days and slot corner Michael Carter is the first to go.
New York, I’m forever grateful! You changed my life 💚 so much love to all my dawgs in the building. Greatness is on the way!

The Jets shipped Carter and a seventh-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a sixth-round pick and a once promising receiver in John Metchie. Carter is now reunited with the man who drafted him in Joe Douglas, who is currently Howie Roseman’s right-hand man.
Jarvis Brownlee has stepped in and played well in place of Michael Carter after Darren Mougey acquired him from the Tennessee Titans which made Carter expendable. Brownlee may lack the cover skills carter possesses, but his physicality and durability are far superior.
Metchie was selected 44th overall in the 2023 NFL draft by the Houston Texans but things haven’t worked out for him as a pro up to this point. He has just four catches for 18 yards this season after managing just 400 yards and a touchdown in his first two seasons as a pro out of Alabama.
With Garrett Wilson working his way back from a hyperextended knee and Josh Reynolds on IR, this may be a shot for Metchie to earn some reps and revive his career. He’ll compete with the likes of Allen Lazard, Arian Smith and Isaiah Williams for reps as the season moves along.
