SALT LAKE CITY – A fourth-quarter comeback fell short for the Utah Jazz in a 136-134 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers for their first loss at home in 2025.
The Jazz (2-2) used defense to whittle a 22-point deficit to 1, but couldn’t finish the comeback in the final moments against Portland (3-2).

Keyonte turning what used to be a REALLY bad night tonight into a very solid night is a good sign for his growth.
This could have easily been a 4-15, 12 point, 6 TO game.
The 6 TOs are still too many, but he's up to 27 points and 7 assists on 6-14 shooting.
— Ben Anderson (@BensHoops) October 30, 2025
Lauri Markkanen finished the night with 32 points to lead all scorers. Keyonte George scored 29 points on 6-of-14 shooting, with eight assists, and was a perfect 15-of-15 from the free-throw line.
Walker Kessler ended the night with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.

No. 5 overall pick Ace Bailey showed off his mid-range game, knocking down a trio of short jumpers. Off the dribble or on a catch and shoot, Bailey is looking more comfortable on the offensive end.

Will Hardy has been all over his guys this season, but if you're trying to improve on the defensive end, you've got to let guys know it when they make mistakes.

Ace Bailey's best half of basketball by far.
Not just the 3-3 shooting, but getting after it on the glass, good rotations, moving the ball well.
Same stuff he showed in his first two preseason games.
— Ben Anderson (@BensHoops) October 30, 2025
The Jazz are starting to look more like the team we saw in the first two preseason games.
Capable of scoring 130 on any given night, but also prone to giving up 140.
Portland looks like they solved the Jazz's defense and are getting whatever they want.

At the half, the @utahjazz trail the @trailblazers 79-73.

If you make one extra pass against the Jazz in the paint, you'll get an open layup almost every time.
That's what we saw from the Rockets in the preseason opener and the reason why the Blazers are 20-31 inside the arc tonight.
— Ben Anderson (@BensHoops) October 30, 2025
The Blazers continued pulling away courtesy of a porous Jazz defense.
Ace Bailey was the Jazz's best player in the third quarter.
It was a low bar from the rest of the roster, but his activity on both ends stood out like a sore thumb.

Live-ball turnovers from the Jazz helped Portland extend the advantage during the quarter. The Trail Blazers scored 23 points off of 17 Utah turnovers through three quarters.
After shooting 60 percent from the floor in the first 12 minutes, Utah’s shooting percentage fell to 45.6 percent heading into the final quarter.
The @utahjazz were outscored 38-25 in the third quarter, and suddenly trail the @trailblazers 117-98 heading into the fourth.

The defensive intensity brought by Elijah Harkless off the bench helped Utah go on a 13-0 run, cutting a 25-point deficit to 12 with more than five minutes to play.
The @utahjazz are making a late push, and have trimmed the @trailblazers lead to 13 with six minutes left in the fourth.
