Chelsea legend John Terry expressed his delight after watching the Blues book their spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
On Wednesday night, Chelsea overcame huge drama to seal a 4-3 victory away to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.
The visitors raced into a 3-0 lead after a dominant first half at Molineux Stadium, where they flexed their attacking muscles. Even though a rejuvenated Wolves were miles better in the second period, Jamie Gittens’ first goal for Chelsea proved to be the match-winning strike.
The reward for Enzo Maresca’s side is a trip to League One club Cardiff City in the quarter-finals.
Of course, the sour note for the Blues was seeing yet another player being sent off this season. Liam Delap’s red card against Wolves is more proof that there is a disciplinary problem within the group that Maresca desperately needs to get a grip of.

John Terry delighted with Chelsea win and cup draw
John Terry was very pleased with what he saw from Chelsea in the cup victory against Wolves, particularly in the opening 45 minutes.
Now, he’s expecting Maresca’s side to reach the semis because of a favourable draw against Cardiff.
Terry said via TikTok: “Never straightforward, but a win’s a win. Really, really good first-half performance tonight. I spoke before the game about the importance of starting really well, suffocating Wolves, starving them of the ball. I think we done that. Obviously, going three up early on puts you in complete control of the game. You have to give Wolves credit as well. The second half, to be fair to them, made a game of it and came out fighting…
“The main thing for us tonight is we are in the hat for the next round, where we play Cardiff away. Out of all the ties, that is the one you certainly wanted… But listen, I expect us to have far too much for Cardiff, regardless of who we play and what team we put out.”
Of course, anything can happen in a game of football, especially in a domestic cup tie. However, Chelsea will be delighted to draw the lowest ranked side still left in the competition.
