Vitinha explains how Wolves experience has helped future success

Vitinha has reflected on his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers, crediting the Premier League experience as a key part of the mentality that now drives him at Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking to ICI Paris, as relayed by O Jogo, the Portuguese midfielder recalled how his formative years at FC Porto shaped his discipline and work ethic, traits he carried through more difficult periods in England.

“First I had a good school at FC Porto. Since we’re little, they try to instil in us a certain mentality, a discipline, a way of working. And that stays with you when you become a professional. It’s the minimum you must have,” Vitinha said.

“I always had that in me, even at Wolves, when things weren’t going very well, when football wasn’t flowing. That mentality is the minimum you have to keep.”

Vitinha also pointed out how both his first season at Paris Saint-Germain and his time in England contributed to his growth as a player.

“Whether in my first year at PSG, surrounded by all the great players, or during my spell at Wolves, I learned in many ways to become more solid,” he explained. “Those experiences helped me achieve the consistency I’ve shown in recent seasons.”

His spell at Wolves, though short, now seems to have played an important part in that development. Competing in a demanding Premier League environment, he faced challenges that tested his character and pushed him to mature faster.

At the same time, working alongside world-class teammates in Paris gave him the technical and mental refinement needed to perform at the highest level.

Together, those two chapters have shaped the midfielder who is now one of Europe’s most consistent midfielders.

Still, it’s clear that the lessons from Wolves remain part of what he calls “the mentality that keeps me going”.
