Daniel Farke can do something no other Leeds United manager has done against Brighton

The odds of history are stacked against Leeds United when they travel to Brighton, as head coach Daniel Farke looks to do something no other Leeds manager has done in the Premier League.

Leeds have a poor recent track record against Brighton, as they last beat the Seagulls in League One in 2009.

If Leeds do claim their first win in 16 years, Noah Okafor is likely to play a key role, provided that the Swiss international is fit to take his place for the trip to the South Coast.

Chris Wood scored two goals in Leeds’ last win over Brighton, when the Whites pushed for a Premier League return under Garry Monk in 2017.

If Daniel Farke can inspire his side to victory, he would achieve something no other Leeds manager has in the Premier League era.

Leeds have faced Brighton six times in total in the Premier League and have failed to win any of those fixtures.

According to the BBC, not only is this Brighton’s longest unbeaten run against Premier League opposition, it is also Leeds’ longest sequence of fixtures without a win in the top flight.

Brighton’s Amex Stadium is also the ground at which Leeds have played the most often without winning.

Who was the last Leeds player to score in an away game against Brighton?

Leeds’ last goal at the Amex Stadium came in a 2-2 draw in 2012, in a dramatic encounter in the Championship under Neil Warnock.

Having fallen 2-1 behind, Luciano Becchio scored Leeds’ most recent goal at the Amex, deflecting home a Michael Brown shot to pull Leeds level in the second half.

The Whites nearly saw the point snatched away from them late in the game, when Sam Byram fouled Craig Mackail-Smith to give the home side a penalty in the dying moments.

However, Paddy Kenny saved the spot kick to give Leeds a draw. Farke would almost certainly accept a similar result this weekend.
