Arsenal have been told by former winger Theo Walcott that they should have signed one of Man United’s players “many years ago”.
The Gunners had arguably the best transfer window of any team in the Premier League. They added the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke in attack, and also added the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Cristhian Mosquera further down the pitch.

It seems to have paid off too, as Arsenal are top of the Premier League table after their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace over the weekend. Mikel Arteta’s side are now the favourites to win the competition which is a lot down to their impressive squad depth.
However, former player Theo Walcott has said that Arsenal missed out on a player, and they should have signed a current Man United player “many years ago”.
Walcott says Arsenal should have signed Bryan Mbeumo
Man United signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in the summer transfer window for a hefty fee of £71m in total. He has since impressed, especially over the weekend, when he scored twice in United’s 4-2 win against Brighton.
The Gunners were linked with signing Mbeumo last season, but they opted against adding him, and former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott says that was a mistake, and that the Gunners should have bought him “many years ago”.
Walcott told the Overlap US: “You look at players away from the Premier League who come into the Premier League, they take time. These guys [like Mbeumo] were built for Premier League football. I think Mbeumo has been incredible and he’s a player Arsenal should have bought many years ago.”
The Gunners opted to sign Noni Madueke instead
Despite Mbeumo’s impressive Premier League resume, Arsenal decided to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke instead, which even Walcott would surely agree was a good decision.
Madueke is injured at the moment, but when he was fit, he looked as impressive as anyone in that right-wing spot at the Emirates. Madueke was also arguably England’s best player during the September international break.
Comparing Mbuemo at £71m and Madueke, who Arsenal signed for £52m, the Gunners made a good choice, especially because Madueke is three years younger than the Man United star too.
