**Crysencio Summerville’s form will be crucial in West Ham’s relegation dogfight, he has to improve his performances.**
The Dutch winger is celebrating his 24th birthday today and I’m sure he will be receiving a lot of presents, but he needs to return the favour and give West Ham fans a present on Sunday afternoon in our crucial match against Newcastle.
West Ham have been struggling all over the pitch as of late, mostly in defence, but the attack hasn’t been anywhere near good enough. We don’t have a striker, the creative players have been totally off it, and the wingers have been unable to impact the game at all. I don’t have much faith in Paqueta stepping it up, but Bowen and Summerville can really stand up and save West Ham from this mess.
Jarrod Bowen is Mr Consistent, he’s been our best player in pretty much every match for over three years now, so I more than expect him to get back into form after two poor matches against Brentford and Leeds.
Summerville is a player Hammers fans are excited about, but despite being here over a year now we haven’t seen the consistency we’d have hoped when we signed him. Obviously his long term injury didn’t help with that, he missed the whole second half of last season and this pre-season with a hamstring injury.
He made a sensational return to the Hammers fold, he came on against Nottingham Forest and completely changed the game, despite only coming on in the 82nd minute. He come on and looked so dangerous, his pace terrified the defenders. He was involved in all three goals, assisting two of them.
We hoped Summerville would kick on from this, but since then he hasn’t had anywhere near the same impact from the start. In the six appearances since the Forest game, Summerville hasn’t managed a goal involvement. He’s looked bright at time and showed some nice pieces of skill, but if he wants to kick on and become the star in this team which we all know he can be, his end product has to improve.
