The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has parted ways with Chipolopolo head coach Avram Grant after the team failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Chipolopolo endured a disappointing qualifying campaign as they collected just nine points from eight matches under Grant, who had been in charge of the team since 2022.
FAZ general secretary Machacha Shepande explained that both parties agreed to mutually separate to help chart a new way forward for the Chipolopolo.
“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has agreed to mutually separate with Zambia Senior Men’s National Team coach Avram Grant,” Shepande said.
“The two parties agreed to mutually separate with FAZ wishing Mr. Grant the best of luck in his future endeavours.
“The rest of the details will be communicated in due course. For now can only thank Mr. Grant for his contribution to the Zambian game.”
The 70-year-old Israeli tactician oversaw Zambia’s two back-to-back AFCON qualifications in the 2023 and 2025 editions.
Zambia are due to participate in the 2025 AFCON edition, where the Chipolopolo are in Group A alongside Morocco, Mali and Comoros.
