Carson Wentz has responded to claims that the Minnesota Vikings should have taken him out of last Thursday's game after he was clearly struggling with his shoulder.
It comes after a scan showed that he suffered a dislocated shoulder, as well as a torn labrum and fractured socket, after the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The quarterback came in to play for the Vikings after J.J. McCarthy sustained an injury after their defeat in Week 2 to the Atlanta Falcons, with Wentz looking to bring them a spark. The Vikings spent a first-round pick on McCarthy, who missed his rookie season before Sam Darnold took over and played at an MVP level.

But the Vikings put faith in McCarthy this season, before needing to pivot to Wentz, who was a backup throughout the past few years. While speaking on the idea of retiring, Wentz said he has no plans to do so.

Wentz looked to be holding his shoulder throughout the 'Thursday Night Football' game against the Chargers, with questions as to why he was still in the game.
Eventually, Wentz did depart as rookie Max Brosmer came in, during a game in which the Vikings were second best.
Wentz's injury was confirmed as a season-ender after the game, with him speaking on whether he feels he should have left the game earlier than he did.

When asked that question, he responded: "Truthfully, no.
"I appreciate that everyone was checking on me and all the stuff - at the end of the day, coaches, trainers.
"No one really knows the level of pain or difficulty that I may be feeling.
"And I know TV copies can show stuff that people on sidelines don't see, but I never once felt unsafe."
The Vikings replaced Wentz on a season-ending injury report after the game, with McCarthy being set to come back to the team as the starter, despite seemingly being ready for weeks.

This has led to questions as to whether McCarthy was actually benched for Wentz, with the latter himself not exactly impressing with six touchdowns to five interceptions in six games.
McCarthy must now prove the Vikings right, after they boldly moved on from Darnold, who joined the Seattle Seahawks on a modest contract.
Minnesota also had Daniel Jones on the roster last year, who is now starting at the Indianapolis Colts, with both quarterbacks playing at an MVP level in a decision that has been much-maligned.
