Carney Chukwuemeka delighted for Chelsea player after his display vs Wolves

Former Blues midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka congratulated a Chelsea player last night for his latest performance.

The Blues were involved in a dramatic seven-goal thriller on Wednesday evening, eventually beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-3 away from home in the Carabao Cup.

Enzo Maresca’s side have since been given a favourable draw against League One club Cardiff City in the quarter-finals.

John Terry was positive about Chelsea’s win against Wolves, which puts them just two rounds away from a cup final at Wembley Stadium. Next, the attention turns towards Saturday’s trip to rivals Tottenham in the Premier League.

Carney Chukwuemeka delighted for Jamie Gittens

Carney Chukwuemeka, who left Chelsea and joined Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis in the summer, shared his excitement for Jamie Gittens on Wednesday night.

Gittens, 21, delivered a stunning performance midweek against Wolves, assisting twice and scoring his first goal for the Blues. Hopefully, the left-winger can now kick on and start to shine consistently at Stamford Bridge.

On Instagram, Chukwuemeka claimed he was “so happy” for Gittens after his success in the Carabao Cup.

Even though Gittens and Chukwuemeka only spent a brief time as teammates at Dortmund, the latter clearly has a close eye on his friend and former club.

Gittens’ strike was certainly a memorable way to open his account for Chelsea, unleashing a powerful half-volley from distance that ricocheted in off the post. Afterwards, Gittens confessed he only shot because he was tired in the closing stages of the contest against Wolves.

The 21-year-old winger arrived in the summer with plenty of first-team experience from his Dortmund spell, playing 107 times for them, but he’s needed a bit of time to adjust to English football again.

If he can replicate more of what he produced in the cup, he should be right in the picture to start regularly.

Can Jamie Gittens live up to price tag?

Chelsea splashed out £51.5m (Sky Sports) in the summer to sign Gittens, the England Under-21 international, from Dortmund.

Like most of the Blues squad, fans will need to be patient with him because he’s still a young player who’s developing and learning on the elite stage. However, there are definitely signs that he’s got the individual ability to live up to his valuation and more.

His acceleration from a standing start makes him a nightmare for opposition full-backs. For Chelsea boss Maresca, he just needs to fine-tune the youngster’s game to help him with his decision-making and end product.

As we saw against Wolves, when it all comes together, he can be quite devastating in attack.
