Manchester United are NOT currently in the hunt for AIK Fotboll's young striker Kevin Filling. Despite reports suggesting that United are in talks to sign Filling from AIK for a fee of around £2.6m, those claims are wide of the mark.

Due to Brexit regulations, United's academy is primarily focused on recruiting within the UK. At 16 years old, Filling would not have been able to join United in January, contrary to what some reports have suggested.

Premier League and EFL clubs are prohibited from signing players from overseas until they reach 18, and all transfers from European countries necessitate a work permit, which is allocated using a points system. It's not uncommon for United to be named in transfer rumours as a tactic used by agents to gain leverage.

Filling has made 10 appearances for AIK's first team this season. The promising youngster has netted three goals in all competitions and is viewed as a potential future star in Sweden.

United continue to operate in the European market when opportunities present themselves and were quick to secure the signing of Enzo Kana-Biyik on a free transfer from Le Havre.

Kana-Biyik turned 18 in January and was in the final year of his contract. United finalised his signing in July and promptly loaned the young forward to Ineos-owned FC Lausanne- Sport.

Since Ineos' investment in the club, United have ramped up their activity in markets outside of Europe.

Sekou Kone was brought in from Mali in 2024, Diego Leon joined from Paraguay in the summer and United have recently agreed in principle to sign Colombian youngster Cristian Orozco.
