Phil Foden had to contact his lawyers after a sick internet troll claimed his one of his children had died and another has cancer.

Foden, 25, sought legal advice after the hoax stories were shared on social media. The Manchester City's ace wife, Rebecca Foden, has even been forced to address the bogus claims.

Rebecca, 24, and the England star share three kids, and she was forced to post about the claims after admitting she had become inundated with messages about the hoax stories.

She wrote: “We are aware of the pages and accounts spreading these stories. They are completely false and very disturbing.

"I don’t understand how people can make up these things about anyone, especially children. It’s sickening.

“We are all absolutely fine thank god & thank you for all your concerns we are doing everything we can to stop them. Please report any posts or pages you come across sharing these false stories.”

The stories had started to be shared on Facebook, where they claimed their son, Ronnie, 6, had died.

Another claim from a troll calling themselves Man City Fan Lover made up a false “confession” from Foden that his daughter True, 4, saying: “My Little Girl has Cancer.”

Foden was a late substitution on Wednesday evening, as City advanced to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
