Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray set to be out for at least a month after picking up a calf injury
Tottenham Hotspur were dealt a fresh injury blow before Carabao Cup fourth-round clash with Newcastle United on Wednesday.
Archie Gray is the latest Spurs star to pick up an injury, taking the casualty tally to 11 in what continues to be growing list for Thomas Frank. The teenager was in contention to start in the Carabao Cup encounter against Newcastle United at St James’ Park, but it is understood he picked up an injury in training.
This meant the Lilywhites had only 15 senior players available to face the Magpies, who dumped Thomas Frank’s side out of the Carabao Cup by beating them 2-0 and keeping their dream alive to retain the cup.

Archie Gray suffers calf injury
Gray has not played much this season due to strong competition in both defence and midfield. The England Under-21 international started for Tottenham in their goalless draw to AS Monaco in the Champions League last week. The teenager performed very well, and with Destiny Udogie struggling with an injury and Djed Spence in need of rest, it was hoped that he would get ample opportunities at left-back in the upcoming fixtures.

Archie Gray ruled out for four weeks with calf injury
Unfortunately, he got injured. According to the Sun reporter Tom Barclay on X, Gray has suffered a calf problem and could be out for at least four weeks. After having discomfort in his calf at Everton on Sunday, he is understood to have undergone a scan on it on Monday which revealed the extent of the problem.
Gray has joined James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Radu Dragusin, Kota Takai and Yves Bissouma on the treatment table. It is a big blow for both the player and Thomas Frank, as Tottenham’s schedule gets extremely busy after November’s international break. The fixtures are set to come thick and fast for the Lilywhites, who, although will now have one competition less to worry about after being eliminated from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Newcastle.
After sitting out the Newcastle fixture, the Englishman could miss at least six games, including mouthwatering contests against Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. His earliest return game would be when Spurs face Newcastle away on December 2.
Let’s hope Gray recovers quickly and comes back strongly as the team would require his versatility to tackle a busy schedule post-November international break.
