Tyrese Maxey Joins Elite Company With Scorching 4-Game Stretch

Some people thought the Philadelphia 76ers would start the season as one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, but apparently, the team didn’t get the memo.

The Sixers are now 4-0, partly because of the incredible work of Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey has been superb again and again during these first four games and is doing things that few NBA stars have.

According to Jeff Kerr, Maxey is now in exclusive, historic company.

He is ranked among Michael Jordan and Russell Westbrook for the most points in the first four games of a season since the ABA/NBA merger.

Most points in first 4 games played of season — since ABA/NBA merger

Michael Jordan — 163 (1989-90)

Michael Jordan — 158 (1986-87)

Michael Jordan — 156 (1991-92)

Russell Westbrook — 151 (2016-17)

Tyrese Maxey — 150 (2025-26)#Sixers

Maxey was at it again on Tuesday as he produced 39 points against the Washington Wizards on the way to a big 139-134 win.

So far this season, Maxey is averaging 37.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game.

Those 37.5 points are a league high.

Fans were nervous about the Sixers this year, especially since Joel Embiid and Paul George haven’t been able to remain healthy.

Embiid has appeared in three games and averaged 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists during that time.

He and George will hopefully get better and chip in even more, but even if they don’t, Maxey is doing a lot for this team.

He seems ready and eager to carry his squad, even when so many others have counted them out.

Maxey and the 76ers are off to a terrific start, but they need to keep it up for the long season ahead.

They are adamant about redemption this year, and Maxey is helping them achieve that, at least for right now.
