The Dallas Cowboys are 3-4-1, and honestly, it doesn’t take a detective to figure out why. The defense has been an absolute nightmare, ranking near the bottom of the league in almost every category imaginable. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer probably wakes up in cold sweats thinking about those numbers.
Meanwhile, the offense has been putting up some of the best stats in the NFL. One would think that would give Schottenheimer something to smile about, right? Wrong.

With the record sitting below expectations, accountability has become the rallying cry in Dallas. And Schottenheimer made it crystal clear where those shiny offensive stats can go.
“None of us have done good enough,” Schottenheimer told reporters on Wednesday. “Our scorecard is what it is. And that’s not just defensively. That’s offensively. We’re a football team that’s 3-4-1. You can take stats on offense and shove them up you’re a** as far as I’m concerned. It is what it is. We want to win.”

Brian Schottenheimer got real about the Cowboys: “We’re a football team that’s 3-4-1. You can take stats on offense and shove them up your ass as far as I’m concerned.

Schottenheimer emphasized that Dak Prescott isn’t chasing MVP conversations or personal glory. It’s all about bringing a Super Bowl back to Dallas. He admitted the team hasn’t played well enough to be in that conversation yet, but stressed the journey isn’t over. This moment calls for sharper focus, stronger intent, and a locker room united in fixing what’s broken.
The defensive numbers? Schottenheimer probably doesn’t want anyone looking too closely. Dallas sits near the bottom in nearly every category. Only one team allows more points and yards.

The secondary has been shredded, ranking 31st in passing yards allowed and dead last in touchdowns surrendered. The run defense hasn’t been much better either, giving up 1,168 yards—good for 29th in the league.
For Schottenheimer, results matter most. Three wins in eight games fall well short of expectations. Dallas gets an extra day to prepare before facing the Cardinals on Monday Night Football.
