A look at some of the moments missed from Liverpool's 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup

A sixth defeat in seven was the result of Arne Slot's wholesale changes as Liverpool were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
Ismaila Sarr's first-half double was added to by Yeremy Pino late on as Slot's men bowed out at the fourth-round stage after the Dutch coach had made 10 changes.
But you knew all of that, of course. What you might have missed, however, were a series of intriguing subplots on the day. Here, as ever, are the best of our moments missed.
Guehi and Gomez's sliding doors moment
It's no secret Liverpool failed in their summer pursuit of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. The Eagles skipper was even undergoing a medical on transfer deadline day only to have the rug pulled from the move at the 11th hour after the London club were unable to source a replacement.
Joe Gomez was another defender whose future was in doubt on September 1 and he eventually stayed on Merseyside despite interest from AC Milan, among others. Had Guehi been signed then it's likely the long-serving Gomez might have moved on.
The pair could be seen spotted deep in conversation after the game as the pair caught up properly having been on-field rivals for the previous 90 minutes.
It's unclear what the gist of the conversation was but it's one of the first times the defenders have had a chance to speak since the collapse of both deals at the start of September.
As two proud south London boys, it's possible they might have just been enjoying a chat about their home, but deadline day represented something of a sliding doors moment for both and it's impossible not to think that might have dominated the agenda as the pair conversed at full time for a minute or so.
Liverpool become the butt of the joke
Despite the mutual respect that poured out across Anfield on the final day of last season, when both sets of players gave the other one a guard of honour for sweeping up the Premier League and FA Cup, Palace's media team have been set on revelling in their victories over the Reds.
To the pre-match graphics that less-than-subtly featured Liverpool's one-that-got-away in March Guehi, through to the changing of the bios after victories in the Premier League and Carabao Cup - the latest being a nod to Ismaila Sarr's hot streak against the champions - those working on the south London club's social channels have had their fun in recent times when it comes to Slot's Reds.
But perhaps Slot and his players plumbed to new depths when they had the official X account of the San Marino national team getting in on the act on Wednesday night.
After Liverpool's official account tweeted "We exit the Carabao Cup" at full time, whoever was behind the @SanMarinoTeam account spotted the chance to make a bit of mischief. And, inevitably, some prised 'engagement'.
"Hello, please play against us" tweeted the account, in a clear reference that the historical whipping boys of European football would be able to secure a victory against a Reds side now on a run of six defeats in seven.
But the San Marino admin team was not done there. Moments later they posted a Spider-Man meme that inferred that Liverpool are now just as consistently poor as the side who are ranked 211th in the world.
Slot's team, it seems, are now the butt of the jokes. For now, at least.
Ngumoha earns the acclaim
One rare bright spot for Liverpool on the night was Rio Ngumoha's performance. The 17-year-old, who was recently rewarded with a first professional contract, was granted further first-team exposure and was impressive in bursts when stationed out on the left side.
One typically skillful run saw him bamboozle a defender or two near the centre circle before his pass out wide was just behind the on-rushing Kieran Morrison.
It was unlucky from Ngumoha to lose possession after he had managed to wriggle free of the Palace attention with some electric footwork and the piece of play brought about a chant of 'Rio!' from the Kop, who clearly appreciate his talent.
It also brought about a big high five from Federico Chiesa, who was keen to keep his young colleague's head up after the pass didn't quite come off having escaped the challenges of the Palace players. The Italian made a beeline for Ngumoha and gave him a big high five and encouragement to continue driving at his opposite numbers.
It was a nice act from Chiesa, who himself is a big fan favourite at Anfield, and Ngumoha, generally, had a decent game. More first-team experience at this stage of his fledgling career is important.
You're still here?!
It was late in the day at Anfield when Crystal Palace fans, emboldened by their certain progression to the fifth round, relayed a message to their Liverpool counterpart.
As the visitors cruised to victory against an inexperienced side that were down to 10 men and also contained zero first-team players on the bench, Palace fans told the Kop exactly what was on their minds.
"Why the f*** are you still here?!" they asked. It was tempting to suggest it was a chant free of irony given how badly the evening was turning out for Liverpool and their fans at a rain-soaked Anfield.
Those in the Kop likely had few answers beyond staying out of loyalty.
