West Ham’s downfall over the last 12 months is far worse than anyone could have imagined.

West Ham look nailed on for relegation this season, and there are a number of factors behind their downfall from a European winner to a bottom-three fodder club.

The managerial appointments are at the top of that list, with player recruitment and behind-the-scenes decision-making also playing a huge role.

Things are very bad this season, and they are only made to look worse by what Sunderland have already achieved.

West Ham 18th in Premier League table since February

Believe it or not, though most will side with the former, West Ham have won just three games of Premier League football since the end of February.

That is despite the fact that they have had 20 attempts.

So far this season, the Irons have accumulated just four points from their first nine games, a record that only Woves can say they are worse for.

To make matters worse, and perhaps even more concerning, Sunderland are 13 points clear of West Ham ahead of gameweek 10.

That isn’t it, because the Black Cats’ impressive start to the season means that they have picked up more Premier League points than the Irons since February, despite playing 11 fewer games.

Graham Potter is to blame for a lot of that, though if things don’t improve as a matter of urgency, it won’t be long until Nuno Espirito Santo starts feeling the pressure.

West Ham’s next five fixtures predicted

Things aren’t gonna get any easier for the Hammers now, either, with some incredibly tough fixtures approaching, as well as at least one must-win encounter.

Off the back of West Ham’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds, they will face four sides with aspirations of Champions League football, and one in a similar position to themselves.

Newcastle (Home)

Burnley (Home)

Bournemouth (Away)

Liverpool (Home)

Man United (Away)

Out of those five, it is very difficult to see West Ham pick up anything more than five points, and that is being generous.

A draw against Newcastle would be a decent result, but an away clash with Burnley is simply a game that West Ham need to win; otherwise, relegation may as well be confirmed.

At best, a draw away to Bournemouth is achievable, while defeats to Liverpool and Man United seem inevitable, despite the struggles they have showcased this season.
