October has been a month to remember, as we moved to the top of the Premier League table, advanced to the League Cup quarter-finals and continued our 100% start in the Champions League.
A busy calendar handed us six matches this month, and we won them all. Three London derbies against West Ham United, Fulham and Crystal Palace were successfully navigated in the league, while Olympiacos and Atletico Madrid were put to the sword in N5 in European competition. We rounded things off by knocking Brighton out of the Carabao Cup as our three-pronged search for silverware continues.
What makes the run all the more impressive is that we’ve also kept six consecutive clean sheets, our best run since 2009, while it is the first time we’ve won ix without conceding since May 2002, the last of which saw us clinch the Premier League title by beating Manchester United at Old Trafford.
October’s form means we are now within touching distance of our all-time best streak of clean sheets, which is eight in a row recorded back in 1903 across two Second Division campaigns. Shutouts against Burnley and Sparta Prague would see us draw level with that team’s achievements.

Our current run has seen us become the first English top-flight team in history to play six games in a month and win them all without conceding a single goal, surpassing the feats of five other teams who achieved five wins to nil, including George Allison’s title-winning team of 1934/35:

And should we beat Burnley on Saturday without David Raya being beaten, we will move level with Graham’s mean defence, who hold the club record for most successive wins without conceding in all competitions, with seven between September and October 1987.
Before reaching November, we’ve managed to shut out our opponents 11 times from 14 matches, which is two more than our previous best after the same amount of games, set back in 2007/08.
For what it’s worth, the most clean sheets we’ve ever kept in a season is 37 during our 1970/71 double-winning campaign, when we played 64 matches. That clean sheet ratio of 58% is the joint-highest in our history alongside another season in which we lifted the championship, 1990/91.
But right now, our ratio is at 79%, meaning we are on track to smash both of those records, should we continue to be as rock-solid at the back as we’ve shown in the opening months of 2025/26:
