Aston Villa star Pau Torres has admitted he is looking to “make things difficult” for Spain coach Luis de la Fuente.

The subject of the upcoming World Cup was put to both of them.
Both are currently regulars for Aston Villa and have been key to their turnaround after a difficult start to the campaign.
Aston Villa appear to be back on track. And that’s good for both players and their prospects of heading to the World Cup in Spain next summer.
Torres has been a regular for Spain since his debut in November 2019. He was handed his debut under Robert Moreno and has since made 24 appearances for the reigning European champions.
He hasn’t, though, made an appearance for his nation since 2023. His last appearance was 90 minutes in a 3-1 win over Cyprus. He spent 12 games out of the squad before returning to the bench against Serbia in September last year. Three more appearances on the bench followed and he hasn’t been in Spain’s squad since.
That’s not putting him off, though, and he wants to perform to a level that puts pressure on the Spain boss.
“Each of us is focused on our country. And we have to focus on that, right?” he said.
“We have to make things difficult for the national team coach. So he has to decide. In the end, being able to experience a World Cup is something I’m lucky enough to be able to experience in Qatar.
“It’s something very beautiful. It’s a unique experience to be able to represent your country there. And it’s something that, obviously, I want to repeat. That’s why it’s important to be in good form this season with the club, achieve our objectives, and from there, let the national team coach decide.”
