The NFL trade deadline is right around the corner, and activity is beginning to pick up around the league.
A handful of deals have already been completed, though none have significantly altered the competitive landscape.
The final days leading up to the deadline typically produce the most impactful moves as contenders address roster needs and rebuilding teams look toward the future.
Analyst Peter Schrager believes the New England Patriots could emerge as a team to monitor closely before the Nov. 4 cutoff.
“I would keep an eye on [the Patriots] after this weekend’s game against the [Atlanta] Falcons. Do they make a trade in that 48-hour window? And if not, in the next free agency period. They’re gonna have a wonderful thing to sell free agents. Look what you can come and join, a great culture with guys who are all on board,” Schrager said.

New England believes it has assembled a roster capable of advancing deep into the postseason.
Its aggressive offseason spending has delivered tangible results on the field, and the front office is expected to remain active as the deadline approaches.
After adding key contributors Stefon Diggs, Harold Landry, Robert Spillane, Milton Williams, Morgan Moses and Carlton Davis during the offseason, the Patriots may look to address remaining gaps in the roster.
If their early momentum continues, New England could be one or two additions away from legitimate Super Bowl contention.
Yet, the Patriots are unlikely to surrender significant draft capital before the deadline.
That does not eliminate the possibility of a strategic move to strengthen specific areas.
Whether addressing depth at running back, reinforcing the secondary, or adding another receiver, New England could make a calculated addition.
Currently ahead of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East and targeting a home playoff game, the Patriots may take the final step with a deadline trade.
