Tim Krul did not hold back when discussing Alexander Isak’s exit from Newcastle United over the summer.
Tim Krul believes karma is impacting Alexander Isak given his poor start to life at Liverpool.
Newcastle United supporters have been enjoying the Swede’s downfall since his British record move to Liverpool last month. Isak has scored just one Carabao Cup goal from eight games and is currently sidelined with a groin injury.
Arne Slot’s men have lost four consecutive Premier League games and were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup last night - losing 3-0 at home to Crystal Palace. Despite winning the title at a canter just five months ago, the Dutchman is second favourite with bookmakers to be the next top-flight manager sacked.
No winners in Alexander Isak saga
Speaking to talkSPORT, former Newcastle goalkeeper Krul insisted the Isak saga impacted the player, Newcastle and Liverpool negatively. He said: “There were no winners in that situation. It's a shame it took that long to sort. I think Eddie Howe wanted his squad to be complete a lot earlier. And it has, especially you could see the start of Newcastle the first few games, they didn't score.
“And you could see there was a transition moment there. But £125million for a player is a good deal. So everybody should be, you know what, we'll move on. We've got a great bit of money, we'll sign some top, top players to replace him.”
‘I believe in karma’ - Tim Krul
The ex-goalkeeper - who announced his retirement earlier this year - also pointed towards “karma” and how Marc Guehi is now in perfect condition to play at next summer’s World Cup. Unlike Isak, the Palace captain refused to down tools despite his deadline-day move to Anfield breaking down.
“The generation has changed a bit,” Krul added. “I wouldn't have liked a player to play this kind of act. Reading the interviews after, I think there was a kind of respect to the player. It should have been dealt differently.
“For me, I believe in values and karma. I think you know how you treat people, you get paid back. Mark Guehi is a captain, he's a role model and he will get his move. That will set him in great stead hopefully for the World Cup.”

‘Doesn’t benefit anyone’ - Alexander Isak
While on international duty earlier this month, Swedish media pressed Isak on the Newcastle drama. He is preferring to move on - insisting that dragging up the saga does not benefit either party.
“It’s nothing to dwell on now,” Isak said, as quoted by ESPN. “It doesn't benefit anyone, neither me nor Newcastle so let it be. I'm working hard to push myself and play my game. Things have been a bit tougher for us (Liverpool). I believe that as the team improves and things start to flow better, it will also go better for me.”
