Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has his eyes set on leaving a legacy on Merseyside and he’s named one player he wants to better.
Years of service have finally been rewarded for Pickford who is playing in perhaps the best Everton side since he joined.
David Moyes has a top quality goalkeeper in the 31-year-old and he still has plenty of years to come on Merseyside.
Charlie Austin has hailed Pickford’s commitment to Everton following some of the criticism that has been thrown his way.
Pickford has now signed a new deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium that will keep him at the club until 2029.
Darren Bent thinks Pickford should be playing European football, but the shot stopper has his eyes on beating the record of one of the best to ever do it at Everton.

Jordan Pickford eyeing Neville Southall’s Everton legacy
Tim Howard is worried about Pickford beating his Everton records on the back of signing his new deal at the club.
Pickford has now been playing his football for the Blues since 2017 and has racked up over 300 appearances.

In discussion with the Everton media team, Pickford has admitted he has his eyes on Neville Southall’s legacy on Merseyside.
“It’s been a mega journey so far. I think it [new contract] just shows the commitment I’ve made to Everton and also the faith the Club has put into me as well. I want to keep building that legacy,” said the 31-year-old.
“You know, Neville Southall is the great at Everton and I don’t want to be too far behind him, if not in front of him, when my time comes to an end.”
Duncan Ferguson admitted Southall is a divisive character, but what he achieved for Everton on the pitch cannot be denied.
The 67-year-old has not exactly had the most positive things to say about the current Everton goalkeeper in recent months.
Which may have added further fuel to his fire in beating his Everton legacy.
What Neville Southall said about Jordan Pickford
Pickford is one of the greatest goalkeepers Everton fans have seen at the club.
The 31-year-old has been able to nail down the spot between the sticks for both club and country for nearly a decade.
However, Southall does not rate Pickford at all, and he has slammed some of the performances he has shown in an England shirt.
“Ours [goalkeeper] is average… he does okay. He’s average. If I’d have played like that, I’d be out the team for Howard,” said Southall.
Southall has played more than double the games for Everton that Pickford has and won more than Pickford ever will for the Blues.
But what the 31-year-old has done in recent years cannot be underestimated.
