Liverpool aren’t without injury problems heading into a defining run of fixtures, with Jeremie Frimpong now missing until December.

The Reds lost yet again last night, with Arne Slot effectively sacrificing the Carabao Cup and seeing his much-changed team lose 3-0 at home to Crystal Palace.
While no new injuries emerged in the game, the Daily Mail‘s Lewis Steele now reports that Frimpong will be out for the whole of November.
The Dutchman is missing with a second hamstring issue of the season and he could miss as many as six matches in the next month.

Meanwhile, Alisson, Curtis Jones and Alexander Isak all look likely to miss Saturday’s visit of Aston Villa, with the former definitely out.
On the plus side, Arne Slot says Ryan Gravenberch has the “best chance” of facing Unai Emery’s side, having not featured since the 2-1 defeat at home to Man United.

Jack Lusby has written about Slot’s selection gamble last night, saying it cranks up the pressure ahead of Villa this weekend:
“If Liverpool are able to revive their fortunes with positive results in each of those three games, defeat in the Carabao Cup will quickly be forgotten.
“However if this miserable stretch continues, and particularly if the record becomes one win in 10 heading into the year’s final international break, the pressure will only grow on Slot and his defending champions.
“It can certainly be argued that lesser rotation and the ability to introduce the likes of Szoboszlai, Wirtz and Salah from the bench in order to secure a win on Wednesday night would have relieved that pressure considerably.
“But that is the risk Slot has taken, and all involved can simply hope it pays off.”

Liverpool FC: On this day
Liverpool celebrate wrapping up the League Championship with a 5-0 win over Arsenal: (back row, l-r) Alf Arrowsmith, Ronnie Moran, Gerry Byrne, Ian Callaghan; (front row, l-r) Roger Hunt, Gordon Milne, Ian St John, Tommy Lawrence, Peter Thompson, Wilf Stevenson, Ron Yeats
On this day in 1957, legendary Liverpool goalkeeper Tommy Lawrence signed his first professional deal at the club, though we would have to wait five years for him to make his first appearance!
Once he did break into the team, he was a key part of two league titles and the club’s first FA Cup triumph in 1965.
Coincidentally, on the same day as Lawrence turned professional, floodlights were used at Anfield for the first time as the Reds beat Everton 3-2 in the second leg of the friendly Floodlight Challenge Cup.
They cost £15,000 to install – that is roughly £462,000 in purchasing power today!
