‘Far from ideal’ – Player’s ‘lingering confidence’ has been ‘evaporated’ at Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers use of Fer López has been question in Spain, with it believed any ‘lingering confidence’ he had is now gone.

[Faro de Vigo cover the player today](https://www.farodevigo.es/celta-de-vigo/2025/10/30/wolverhampton-apaga-luz-fer-lopez-123197766.html) after his €23m move from Celta Vigo to Wolves in the summer. They say that his start at Molineux has been ‘far from idea’.

The Vigo academy graduate isn’t getting the opportunities or playing time he expected when he made the move this summer.

He ‘barely features’ in Vitor Pereira’s plans. That’s despite Wolves’ disappointing start to the season. They are currently bottom of the Premier League and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

López has played in seven of 12 games with 235 minutes but has only started three times. One of those games, against Leeds, saw him provide an assist. That wasn’t enough for him to get a bigger opportunity.

And any ‘lingering confidence’ the 21-year-old might have had was ‘evaporated’ on Wednesday. López started the game against Chelsea but in a deeper role he’s unaccustomed to. His mistake directly led to Estevao’s third goal int eh game.

Pereira reacted immediately, pulling the midfielder off at half time and realising his ‘gamble’ hadn’t paid off.

That will have been a low point for López, whose situation has not gone unnoticed by his former club and their media. They’re wondering what’s happened to their former youth product.
