Packers offer pessimistic Marshawn Lloyd injury update

Eight weeks into the Packers‘ season, and Green Bay has yet to have its full complement of running backs on the field together.

That might not happen Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, either.

According to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, Marshawn Lloyd is unlikely to take the field, which is obviously a blow to Green Bay keeping running back Josh Jacobs fresh.

“I would not count on that any time soon,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters, striking a pessimistic tone for the young running back.

The fact that Lloyd isn’t yet able to practice, or be activated from injured reserve raises questions on how much the Packers can reasonably expect from him this season.

Lloyd suffered a hamstring injury this summer and has been on injured reserve ever since.

However, Green Bay does not sound optimistic that Lloyd is anywhere close to even opening the three-week practice window to determine if he is healthy enough to be activated to the 53-man roster or shut down for the remainder of the season.
