Newcastle United close door on potential Alexander Isak reunion

**Newcastle United have reportedly put their metaphorical foot down and blocked a move that would have seen Graeme Jones reunited with former Toon striker Alexander Isak.**

The Magpies' attacking coach, Graeme Jones, has recently been linked with a return to the international scene to work alongside Graham Potter, who recently took over ex-Newcastle striker Jon Dahl Tomasson as Sweden head coach.

Potter has been given a borderline impossible task of getting Sweden's World Cup qualification back on track, and it was believed that the former Brighton and Chelsea boss wanted to enlist Graeme Jones' services to help him do so.

Jones has had previous experience working at an international level, having coached the Belgian national side and also England while working for Newcastle.

No-go for Jones

Newcastle United want Graeme Jones to stay focused on his job on Tyneside

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems this time, however, Newcastle aren't as keen to allow Jones to split focus, and according to Craig Hope in his [Newcastle Confidential](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-15243119/Newcastle-Confidential-Craig-Hope-autograph-hunters-crackdown-Osula-Wissa-TV-picks.html) column, the Magpies have insisted Jones keep fully focused on his job on Tyneside.

This has essentially put an end to Jones linking back up with former Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. It's a shame for Sweden as Isak thrived under Jones' coaching.

It is, however, great news for Newcastle as it means he can continue his work at the club with no distractions.

Will Osula is benefiting from the attention of Graeme Jones

-----------------------------------------------------------

Graeme Jones has been working a lot with Will Osula lately, and it's starting to pay off as the Danish Under 21 international has three goals and an assist to his name already this season.

Plus, let's be honest, do we really want Jonesy reinvigorating Alexander Isak? Naaaaah.

Another good decision by the Newcastle board.
