[Chelsea](https://chelseanews.com/) knew that their League Cup draw against Wolves on Wednesday night would be a lot tougher than the opponent’s standing in the Premier League would otherwise indicate, and they were indeed pushed to their limit by the Wanderers at mid-week.
Yet the Blues emerged victorious again, outlasting thier competition with a 4-3 victory, and the most valuable player of the night was none other than a footballer who had largely drawn the ire of most fans to that point.
But shrewd fans knew not to doubt Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who had slowly but surely dropped hints of turning it around before basically carrying Chelsea to a key victory, recording a goal and two very early assists to help push the Blues over the line in this narrow 4-3 win.
Bynoe-Gittens was as electrifying on this night for Chelsea as he was throughout the entire first half of the 2024/25 season for Borussia Dortmund – well, at least, before the pedantic Niko Kovac’s arrival.
The 21-year-old English star grabbed this game by the scruff of its neck, showing off his dynamism and explosive one-on-one ability while also flashing underrated creativity.
In addition to the assists and goal, Gittens had a handful of dribbles completed, a trio of key passes, and even tied Malo Gusto for the team lead with three tackles despite being the main attacking threat.
Gittens is an absolute stud, and after being lambasted as a new Mykhaylo Mudryk – or worse – by a certain subsection of imprudent Chelsea supporters, perhaps they will finally pay their respects to the Dortmund product.
