Manchester United 4-2 Brighton: View from the pressbox
Man United and Arsenal are both reportedly interested in the same 22-year-old La Liga star.
Man United are in a fantastic position right now. They have won three consecutive league games for the first time under Ruben Amorim, and will be going into their game against Nottingham Forest at the weekend with a lot of optimism that they can make it four in a row.
Reports are now saying that United are keen on a striker from La Liga who could come in and challenge with Sesko for the starting striker role under Amorim.
Man United and Arsenal battling for Etta Eyong
Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong has been making a name for himself in La Liga over the past couple of years. The 22-year-old has made 10 league appearances this season, scoring six goals in that time. He is currently the second-top scorer behind just Kylian Mbappe in the Spanish league.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Man United and Arsenal are currently battling to sign the Cameroonian attacker, who has a £35m release clause for teams in the Premier League. It is understood that any buying club in La Liga will only have to pay £26m for him, though. Barcelona are a serious threat to sign the striker, but Man United and Arsenal could make a move for him in January.
Etta Eyong is very well regarded by his coaching staff at Levante, with the manager recently hailing the 22-year-old’s form. French Football Weekly quoted him: “He has the will and the ability to do things well. Etta has this presence, this confidence, and he is hungry, and when you combine that, it often results in success.”
Are Man United looking at any other strikers?
It seems a strange situation that United are interested in Etta Eyong, because there have also been reports linking the Red Devils to sign a much older veteran instead of the 22-year-old.
The 37-year-old has no intention of retiring just yet and has shown that he can still perform at the highest level. This season, Lewandowski has made seven La Liga appearances, scoring four goals. That comes after a season where he managed to score 27 goals in 34 games for Barcelona, helping the Spanish giants to their first La Liga title in three years.
