Eagles just landed in a Myles Garrett trade inferno as whispers heat up

The Philadelphia Eagles' defense has taken a step back this year but even still, the reigning Super Bowl champions are 6-2 despite not playing their best ball. With the trade deadline looming, if the Eagles want to truly take a massive step forward and put themselves above their NFC counterparts, they need to swing for the fences and go for absolute broke.

What trade could they do that would do that? Trading for star Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett would certainly check that box.

Some might be rolling their eyes and thinking 'Oh yeah right, like that's going to happen', you might be right. For the most part, the reports surrounding Garrett are that the Browns aren't going to deal him. But, there still have been enough rumblings floating around that it's worth talking about as a possible scenario for the Eagles.

While appearing on 102.5 The Game, Yahoo! Sports reporter Charles Robinson discussed how he had been hearing the Eagles were "hot" for Garrett.

“Rumor going around … and I have not heard it out of the Eagles, but I’ve heard it from a couple of other super high-ranking people in other teams that are clearly on the phones. That Howie Roseman and the Eagles are super hot after Myles Garrett. That Howie would give up, like, three first-round picks for him.”

Eagles reportedly willing to give up three first-round picks for Myles Garrett

Okay so the big thing here is that the Browns are probably not willing to part ways with Garrett. They just extended him during the offseason and, unless he really wants to be moved, it feels like he's going to stay in Cleveland.

That being said, let's play devil's advocate here for a second. Could you imagine the insanity that would take place if the Eagles somehow landed one of the best pass-rushers in the league? People would hate this trade if it actually happened because Garrett would 100% put this Eagles team over the top, not just in the NFC but in the entire NFL. They'd be the favorites to win the Super Bowl for sure.

Garrett had five sacks on Patriots quarterback Drake Maye this past weekend and 10 total on the year. The dude is an absolute freak of nature and would take this Eagles defense to the next level overnight, there's no doubt about that.

Three first-round picks might seem like a steep asking price but the Eagles are in their Super Bowl window now so if that's what it took to get Garrett and win their second straight Super Bowl and maybe another one or two in the next few years, it sounds worth it to me. Sadly, in all likelihood, this won't happen but let's just dream that it can.
