The Newcastle star who could ruin Alan Pardew's exciting Nick Woltemade prediction

Alan Pardew has given an exciting verdict on how many goals Nick Woltemade will score for Newcastle United this season.

The 23-year-old has already got six, with his latest strike coming in Newcastle United’s win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.

It was a towering header from Nick Woltemade, who has scored 50% of his Toon goals with his head. Woltemade has surprised Newcastle staff with his heading ability, despite standing at 6ft 6in tall.

The Germany international is scoring all kinds of goals in multiple competitions, and it will not be long before he reaches double figures.

Alan Pardew backs Nick Woltemade to score 20 goals

In fact, former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that Woltemade is capable of firing in 20 goals in all competitions.

That is the prediction he has made on TalkSPORT, with Pardew citing the quality of the Magpies’ crosses as the reason why Woltemade will score so many goals.

“Isak profited from it last year, Newcastle love crosses,” he said.

“Eddie Howe’s always loved crosses. He’s really good at imagination, set plays. He’s always trying to free someone.

“Obviously he [Woltemade] would be the main target for most of that kind of attacking play. He’s going to have a nice supply of ammunition to get his goals. I think he will end up with 20 goals.”

Yoane Wissa could threaten Nick Woltemade’s goal return

Newcastle United will feel incredibly justified in spending £69million on Woltemade if he goes on to score 20 goals this season. It would be some debut year for a player who does not have a rich history of finding the back of the net.

While 20 goals is more than achievable for Woltemade, the looming return of Yoane Wissa could change things.

Once the DR Congo international is fully fit, he will be dovetailing with Woltemade. The big man will not be starting every week like he is now, as he gets set to share the load with Newcastle United’s new number nine.

When Wissa is up and running, it could be more difficult for Woltemade to continue scoring at this current rate. He will be playing less, while the majority of goals might be scored by the former Brentford man.

Assuming he has no problems adapting to life in black and white, it might not take Wissa long to catch up with Woltemade at the top of the Toon scoring charts. That will not be a problem for Eddie Howe, who will be desperate for Wissa to justify his £55million arrival.
