The Eagles are reportedly interested in a trade that would shock the NFL

Howie Roseman and the Eagles have already made a minor move to address a major concern — and they could continue to go bargain hunting ahead of next week’s NFL trade deadline.

But don’t rule out Roseman swinging for the fences to land one of the best players in the league.

The Eagles are interested in making a blockbuster trade for Browns superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett, according to Yahoo! NFL insider Charles Robinson.

Here’s what Robinson had to say on ESPN Nashville’s 102.5 The Game about the possibility of Roseman and Philadelphia landing Garrett, the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

“Rumor going around,” Robinson said, “and I have not heard it out of the Eagles, but I’ve heard it from a couple of other super high-ranking people in other teams that are clearly on the phones. That Howie Roseman and the Eagles are super hot after Myles Garrett. That Howie would give up, like, three first-round picks for him.”

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Roseman would be interested in the six-time All-Pro.

The Eagles were rumored to be interested in Garrett in the offseason, per The Athletic’s Scoop City podcast. That was before he went back on his trade request and signed a four-year, $160 million contract with Cleveland.

Some will point to that megadeal being too much to overcome in a trade. But the way ESPN’s Dan Graziano explained it earlier this week, maybe not.

“Thing is, I dug into the contract a bit this week, and I don’t think it’s out of the question that the Browns could trade Garrett — even this week — if he really wanted out," Graziano wrote.

“The extension added $7 million to his 2025 compensation and $6 million to his 2026 compensation. It also guaranteed him about $30.5 million for 2027. The signing bonus on the new deal was around $21 million, which isn’t super-onerous for a contract of that size. If the Browns traded him right now, his 2025 cap number would stay about the same, and they’d incur about $41 million in dead money for 2026 -- roughly $17.5 million more than his current 2026 cap charge.

“... If someone came offering the Browns, say, two first-round picks, and Garrett (who has a no-trade clause and could therefore veto a deal) really wanted out, it would probably be worth considering.”

It would be worth considering for the Eagles, too. Even with the return of Brandon Graham, Philadelphia’s pass rush isn’t scary enough to strike fear in teams — and you could argue that it’s not good enough to win back-to-back Super Bowls.

Garrett would undoubtedly strike fear in quarterbacks, as he has for the last six seasons. The 29-year-old has racked up 112 1/2 sacks in 125 games since being drafted in 2017.

Odds are, this doesn’t happen. Plenty of reports have stated that Cleveland won’t move Garrett despite its 2-6 overall record.

But Roseman and the Eagles are known to be aggressive. So there’s always a chance.
