The New England Patriots keep on rolling, defeating the Browns with an impressive second-half performance last Sunday. Next up, the Atlanta Falcons come to town to try and redeem an embarrassing, shut-out loss to the Patriots in 2021, and of course, the ghosts are still haunting them from the epic Super Bowl 28-3 comeback in 2017. The last time the Falcons beat the Patriots was in November 1998.

The weather is looking nearly perfect for the 60,000 or so fans headed to catch the game in Foxborough. High pressure to the southwest will keep skies mostly sunny throughout the entire game.

Temperatures will be just a degree below the seasonal average, reaching the low 50s during the first half of the game before slipping to the mid-40s by the time you head to the parking lot or the train.

The quick drop in temperature is due to the end of daylight saving time early Sunday, with sunset around 4:30 p.m. across Southern New England.

But it won’t be completely perfect weather out there. A slight breeze of up to 10 miles per hour will be present during the game. This won’t take away from your experience at the stadium, but it might play a factor if a field goal gets a little too close to the uprights.

Gillette’s playing field is oriented northwest to southeast. With the wind coming from the west-southwest, there will be a crosswind during the game.

A slight breeze from the west is likely during the game, reaching 10 mph at times.

Sunday morning

You’ll want to bring some layers if you’re headed in early to tailgate. Temperatures Sunday morning will slowly tick up from the mid-40s to near 50 before kickoff. But either way, you’ll see plenty of sunshine during the pregame.

The morning will be spent in the upper 40s with mostly sunny skies for tailgating.

Gametime weather history

For those of you interested in how weather plays a role in the Patriots’ games, take a look at these interesting stats:

• The Patriots are 4-1 at home when playing in similar weather conditions during November, dating back to 2009.

• The Patriots are 7-3 at home when playing under the same weather conditions any time during the season, dating back to 2009.

• The Patriots are 2-0 at home against the Falcons with the same weather conditions in place, dating back to 2009.

Hopefully, the Pats play as superbly as the weather this Sunday and secure their seventh win of the season.
