NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans are preparing for a Week 9 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers, and may have to face L.A. without their star defensive tackle.
Jeffery Simmons did not practice Thursday for the second day in a row as he deals with a hamstring injury he suffered in the team’s Week 7 game against the Patriots.
Simmons did not practice or play in last week’s game against the Colts.
Despite missing last week’s contest, Simmons leads the Titans with 4.5 sacks this season.
Interior defenesive lineman T’Vondre Sweat and Sebastian Joseph-Day are preparing for a possible game plan without Simmons come Sunday.
“We’re all in the NFL for a reason,” Sweat said. “We got to move on to the next, and like I said, we would love to have him back. He’s a big thing for this defense, but we just got to move on and keep pushing.”

Joseph-Day praised what Simmons brings to the defense, and also ackowledged the need for others to step up.
“You don’t replace a player like Jeff, but you know, I don’t know if you guys remember last year, we lost Jeff in a game and everyone had to step up and that was one of our wins last year doing it,” Joseph-Day said. “And I just feel as if it’s kind of just how Dennard (Wilson) preaches, next man up no matter who it is.”
The Titans will host the Chargers Sunday afternoon at Nissan Stadium at 12 p.m.
