In what is an odd stat, through eight weeks, the Dallas Cowboys have yet to win consecutive games, with their 3-4-1 record showing that Brian Schottenheimer's unit is an inconsistent team.
Just one win on the road, the others have come at home, the Cowboys know that a streak has to start if they are to make a run at the playoffs, and it starts against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.
But rather than looking ahead, knowing the chance to string a few wins together is right there with the Las Vegas Raiders next after the bye, quarterback Dak Prescott knows that for the team to start a winning streak, it's got to start now.
“Win one, win this one,” Prescott said. “We got to start a streak, it's vital, but this is a good chance, I'd say so, getting this win, getting on the bye-week, getting guys healthy. Maybe they [front office] do something before the trade deadline. Getting ourselves healthy and coming back after this bye week to get win number two, but it starts off with the first one. So, this is most important right now.”

Cowboys still in playoff contention
That might be odd to say, but if the Cowboys do beat the Cardinals and Raiders, to move to 5-4-1, that would set up a huge clash with the Philadelphia Eagles, who have the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers in their next two games.
There is a chance the Eagles lose both, drop to 6-4, and the Cowboys would be at 5-4-1 with a chance, at home, to move level with the Eagles.
Yes, I get it —that seems unlikely to happen because the Cowboys haven't shown they can be consistent yet —and would need to be —but there is a big carrot dangling in front of Schottenheimer's team.
But as Dak stated, it starts with one game, against Arizona. Win that, and you're on your way.
