In-form Cherries aiming at first away win vs City: Team news and preview

Bournemouth have never won at City – but Andoni Iraola’s side head to Manchester sat second in the league and above their hosts with nine games played of the season so far.

They are two points above their fifth-placed hosts and currently have the longest unbeaten run in the Premier League at eight games.

Guardiola’s City, though, will be aiming to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend.

The Daily Echo previews Sunday’s game.

**Team news**

Iraola is hopeful of having a full squad to choose from this weekend, with only Evanilson ruled out for last weekend’s win over Nottingham Forest.

The Brazilian had a ‘small’ injury and missed the Crystal Palace and Forest games, but the boss was optimistic of having him fit to return for this weekend’s game.

Last weekend saw Enes Unal return to the squad for the first time since January, meaning Iraola has a full complement to choose from.

For City, Guardiola also has close to a full squad to choose from.

Rodri was unavailable for their League Cup game against Swansea in midweek, but he was back in training so may be fit for the visit of the Cherries.

Erling Haaland picked up a knock against Villa, while Abdukodir Khusanov was passed clear to play in the week.

**Head-to-head**

Before last season, the Cherries had never beaten City.

But in the first of three games against the Citizens last term, Iraola’s Bournemouth ended that run with a 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium in November – exactly a year before this Sunday’s clash.

Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson gave Bournemouth a two-goal lead, before Josko Gvardiol got one back late on, but Bournemouth held on.

The two sides met again at Dean Court in the FA Cup quarterfinals, and City enacted revenge, despite trailing 1-0 to an Evanilson strike at halftime.

Haaland and Omar Marmoush completed the turnaround for City, before they won comfortably at the Etihad in May, Marmoush scoring a rocket before goals from Bernardo Silve and Nico Gonzalez.

Daniel Jebbison scored in stoppage time, but that was nothing more than a consolation in a 3-1 defeat, with both sides reduced to ten players.

**Last time out**

The Cherries head to Manchester on fantastic form.

Unbeaten in eight games, they comfortably beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Dean Court last weekend.

Junior Kroupi scored his third goal in two games, after Marcus Tavernier had opened the scoring direct from a corner.

City, meanwhile, were beaten 1-0 by Villa at Villa Park last time out in the league, Matty Cash’s first half goal the difference, before they headed to Swansea in the League Cup on Wednesday.

AFC Bournemouth travel to Manchester City on Sunday, November 2, kick off at 4.30pm.
