The New York Jets are far from playoff contention once again in the 2025 season. Coming off their first win of the season in Week 8, there are a lot of possible scenarios first-year head coach Aaron Glenn can do with the rest of the season.
One name that keeps popping up in trade talks is running back Breece Hall, who's on pace for the best season of his short career.
Hall's rookie contract is set to expire at the end of the 2025 season, so what can happen with the running back as the NFL trade deadline approaches on Nov. 4?
Cimini: Jets aren't planning on trading Breece Hall ahead of trade deadline
According to ESPN insider Rich Cimini, "Coach Aaron Glenn said recently the Jets have no intention of trading (Breece) Hall, who will be eligible for free agency in March. Then again, Glenn said Monday if another team calls on a player, they will always listen."
These comments are difficult to trust, because although the Jets owner, Woody Johnson, has continued to mention that he's fully committed to his first-year head coach, the final say on player personnel is ultimately up to Johnson and team general manager Darren Mougey.
Hall is on pace to rush for 1,000 yards for the first time in his four-year career. Through eight games, he has the sixth-most rushing yards (581) while being seventh in total yards from scrimmage (759).
His impressive performance in the Jets' first win of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8 (18 carries, 133 rushing yards, two receptions, 14 receiving yards, and a passing touchdown) has helped secure his spot in the NFL among top running backs.
