Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with an ambitious bid to sign Jarrod Bowen from West Ham.
West Ham could receive an ambitious bid by Premier League rivals for the services of star man Jarrod Bowen with the north London side in the market for added goal power.
Thomas Frank is said to be losing patience with the injury problems of Dominic Solanke while Richarlison’s goals have dried up since a strong start to the campaign. Spurs do have Randal Kolo Muani on loan but, having failed to score against Newcastle United in midweek and their three goals against Everton coming from a defender and a midfielder, recruiting a talisman could be a priority.
Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that Spurs could make a €60 million - around £53 million - bid for Bowen. West Ham are not in a position to sell their main goal provider amid their top flight struggles but may need to sell before they buy in January, and it’s claimed that the prospect of Champions League football could tempt Bowen.
Tottenham Hotspur linked with Jarrod Bowen bid
The West Ham forward signed a new long-term contract with the club in October 2023, committing his future to the London Stadium until 2030. That would give the Hammers bargaining power if they were to enter negotiations over a head-turning move.
Tottenham Hotspur beat West Ham 3-0 at the London Stadium last month and, speaking after that game, Bowen reflected on the opposition under Frank. He said: “In the first half, I thought we did OK.
“I thought we had a couple of chances, and got a couple of crosses into the box on the front foot. For the majority of the first half, we defended the set-pieces really well. We knew Thomas Frank from Brentford, we knew he's inventive with set-pieces. He had some real success over the years with it.
“So we knew we had to be on our 'A' game, and they did have the corners [in the first half], we defended them well. We were in a good position at half-time, but then the goal we conceded from a set-piece – these are the details that we need to look at ourselves and just take pride in keeping the ball out the back of the net.”
West Ham star aware of Spurs rivalry
Bowen will be all too aware of how many feathers a move to Tottenham Hotspur would ruffle. Speaking ahead of taking on the team in May, he spoke about the London rivalry and derby day.
He told the club website: “Every derby match is special for everyone associated with both clubs and, as players, the games themselves have that extra intensity which makes them exciting to play in.
“We know how disappointing our season has been and that one win over Spurs will not make up for our inconsistent performances and results, but we can only win the next game and our next game is against Spurs, so we want to win it. If we do, we’ll not only win a local derby, but we’ll also go above them in the table.”
